Some small video footage of me skateboarding in Stafford back in September 2012.
I hadn't been skateboarding for the previous 14 years and had only been back on a board a few times since May of that year...
During a recent trip to Hong Kong I wanted to see, as a fun challenge, whether or not I could identify/find any locations that served as scenes from one of my favourite 80's films, Bloodsport...
It’s been over 8 months since I left the UK.
I never thought I’d become an immigrant (well, more of a wandering nomad really) but I don’t recognise my country anymore...
B12 deficiency is quite common in certain groups; particularly vegetarians & vegans, and, if left untreated, can lead to irreversible health problems such as permanent nerve damage.
Here's how I reversed my B12 deficiency.
Probiotics and gut health were topics that I had no knowledge of until a series of health problems caused me to learn the hard way that the key to great health involves looking after my gut...
It's not hard to see why Bali enjoys such a brisk tourist trade.
From yoga, hindu temples and incredible natural sights to beaches, restaurants and a multitude of cultural sights there's something here for everyone...including an illicit sex trade.
It's depressing when comedy stops being funny because the reality that it satirises is so dysfunctional and broken...
There's nothing quite like anaphylactic shock to make you realise, with violent suddenness, just how fragile and fleeting this life truly is...
To learn of the recent passing of 80’s TV action star Lewis Collins this week from cancer left me absolutely gobsmacked. Having been (and continuing to be) a big fan of cult TV series The Professionals, where Collins played the role of ex-SAS man William Bodie, I felt like a piece of my childhood had been ripped away from me with his death...
I was saddened to learn of Stuart Wilde’s death on May 1st 2013 from an apparent heart attack while driving through rural Ireland. For the previous 4 years I had been a frequent visitor to his website both intrigued and engaged by his stories of visions and journeys into other worlds and dimensions. Written in his own unique style the articles were often quirky, thought provoking and layered with biographical hints and reference points which made reading them all the more thought-provoking and fascinating. Sometimes they were just plain downright strange and seemingly nonsensical; unable to be deciphered or anchored to any recognisable reference point in the collective world experience...
It's pretty harsh returning back to the town that I grew up in carrying lots of great memories from those times only to see certain reference points from back then become degraded with the passage of the years.
To return to various locations in and around the town that were scenes for some of the best memories of my life only to find they've now become inaccessible, unusable and, in some cases, even erased from existence is downright saddening. The people I met there, the experiences we shared and the sessions that went down that were never caught on camera but remain fresh in my mind almost 2 decades later made for some of the most intense and unbelievably enriching experiences of my life.
The following are some of the landmarks anchored to those memories that have now become lost to the past...
I was twelve years old when I got my first ‘proper’ skateboard, a pacer pharaoh from the local skateboard shop, Blythes. It was the spring of 1989 and I had fallen in love with a sport that would come to closely define the next 10 years of my life and continue to exert an impact on me for long afterwards...
